Hi, I am Emily!
Wife to Mitch, boy mama to Dreis and Abram! Photography is something that has always been an interest of mine but it wasn’t until my first son was born that photography evolved into a passion. Becoming a mama ignited my passion beginning with birth. The birth of my son was a very empowering experience for me as it is for countless women. I was in awe of my body and its capability to grow and bring into the world such a perfect being. My birth experience was a beautiful one but I was left wishing that I could have had more images to look back on that had captured the raw beauty of childbirth that I had experienced.
As my son grew, it quickly became apparent just how fast time flies by. I found myself wanting to freeze time and capture every little detail about my son so I could hang onto the wrinkly skin, the first smile, and all of the other milestones that gave me all of the “mom feels”. I want to do the same for you and your family. I want to capture your empowering birth story in its most holistic form and curate all of the moments in your growing family’s story that deserve to be relived for years to come.
My philosophy
When photos are taken, we are taking an instant out of time- altering life by holding it still. It’s in these still moments, that I believe, is where the most precious memories exist. Each photo captures a footprint through a season of life whether it is the season that you are currently living in, or a season that has passed. Photos bring comfort by preserving the details and warm emotions that bring you back to reliving each memory with a smile. They showcase what your family is made of and just how far you’ve come on your journey of life.
about emily
the woman behind the camera.
I graduated in 2015 from Central College majoring in Elementary Education and spent the next 9 years teaching a variety grade levels. Over that time, I married my best friend and have two beautiful blue-eyed boys, Dreis and Abram.
When I'm not shooting photos, you can likely find me in the kitchen. I love all things cooking/ baking and believe that one of the best ways to show your love for others is by preparing and sharing food around one table. My faith and family are super important to me. I value time to myself to be still, deep conversations, making memories by seeing the world, and coffee (lots of it).
Neither my husband or I are from Pella originally, but fell in love with our little "Hallmark town". It is here, in Pella, Iowa that we decided to put down roots to raise our two boys.
